Colours of Life

I was at the Esplanade catching the All That Jazz performance held at the outdoor theatre when suddenly, there was a heavy downpour. The seats at the side of the outdoor theatre were drenched and as a result, the organiser had to cancel the 2nd set of the performance. The freak rainstorm not only affected the show at the Esplanade, it also affected the National Day Parade (NDP) rehearsal nearby. Lots of people, especially photographers, were seen dashing for the nearest shelters they could find. The NDP rehearsal had to be called off and it must have been a disappointing moment for many (I reckon it was mainly due to the outdoor fireworks!). Back in the Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, I was stuck there waiting for the 3rd set to begin. It was 10pm and many faithful audience like me stayed till the last set because we all know, the band was going to be awesome. And we were not disappointed. Despite the gloomy weather, Michaela Therese and her musicians exhibited excellent showmanship, musicality, and most important of all, professionalism during the show. Had I not been patient enough to stay back for the performance, I would have gone back home empty handed. The wait was simply worth it. I'm sure those who were there last night would share the same sentiments as me.

The skyscrapers in the backdrop is the Central Business District (CBD) of Singapore. The glittery office lights on that very evening caught my attention and was what inspired me to take this shot. If I were to shoot this on a weekend, the office lighting would turn out to be very disappointing. The building at the centre is the very posh Fullerton Hotel. In the very near future, with the integrated resorts coming up, I'm sure the urban landscape in this area is going to be even more breath-taking.
